Depending on the assignment, this may include names, addresses and contact details, birth and death information, family and kinship information, nationality, marital status and information from public registers, archives, documents and other sources relevant to the research. Research assignments may also involve personal data relating to heirs, family members and other persons who are not themselves the client.

Personal data may be processed to carry out and document research assignments, answer enquiries, communicate with clients, request or verify information and documents, maintain financial records and comply with legal obligations.

Sources used in heir research

In international heir research, information may come from the client, public registers and databases, archives, genealogical and historical sources, foreign authorities, publicly available internet sources and other sources relevant to the particular research question.

Legal bases

Personal data is processed only where there is a valid legal basis. The applicable basis depends on the nature of the processing and the assignment. Processing may, for example, be necessary for the performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation or the pursuit of a legitimate interest.
